Successful Learning of Life Skills in Our Multi-Handicapped Classroom!
Help me give my students a countertop oven for hands-on learning to enhance their life skills curriculum while also feeling successful.
My students are in a Self-Contained Special Education classroom where we work on everyday living skills throughout the day. Being mentally challenged and with physical disabilities, students are learning how to face their everyday obstacles while preparing for their future.
One of our everyday living skills is baking and selling cookies to students during 3 different lunches.
We purchase cookie dough and place them on cookie sheets, bake them, place them in containers to sell, then hand them out to students who purchase cookies.
Students learn how to take care of themselves while being responsible for their everyday choices helping them to become successful adults.
One student manages the money and cash register, another takes the order while another student passes out the cookies. They are preparing for future working situations. Conducting themselves as if this is their first job.
Our class discusses daily the importance of everyday living skills.
Help me give my students the opportunity to learn how important it is to plan healthy meals to be successful in life while also being self-sufficient.
An oven for our classroom will help them learn important life skills such as planning healthy meals, baking, cooking, safety, and responsibilities to independently take care of themselves as they grow into responsible young adults.
While developing good work ethics and responsibility, students will bake cookies daily then sell them at school during lunch.
