This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Henry Ford once said, "Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success." My students succeed when they are given the chance to work and learn with their peers. Their motivation and engagement when working in groups increases their success in the classroom.

I work with an amazing group of children who are eager to learn.

I have been extremely fortunate to have been given the opportunity to teach Special Education at an extremely poor Title I school in the City of Chicago. I enjoy seeing the excitement in their eyes when we get ready to work in our small groups during literacy and math centers. My students come from diverse backgrounds, which make each of them unique. Many of my students come from low income families. They are also the best kids on the planet!

My Project

My students LOVE center time. It's one of their favorite parts of the day. Center time is a time when the students work in small groups on a variety of learning activities. Some of their favorites include the guided reading center, writing center, technology center and listening center. The students will use these storage bins for organization of each center activity. These storage bins will give the students everything they need at their tables by providing them with the dry erase markers and other essential materials to be successfully working the whole time, without disruptions. The bins will also help to differentiate each activity according to the developmental level of each center group. The labels will allow the children to know what activity they will be working on throughout the centers. These bins will improve my ability to devote more time to creativity and learning and less time to retrieving materials.

Your help will ensure that my students have the opportunity to truly understand what it means to work together to complete a task.

Your donation will give my students an experience of a lifetime. Thank you so much for your support!
