Much of today's instruction in high schools is done through the use of technology. However, not every classroom comes with enough tech for each student. In this, my first request, I would like to begin building a class set of laptops for my students.
My students are 10th and 11th graders who, many, have a hard time focusing in class, don't like to read (yet), or are struggling academically and sometimes, personally.
Many of my students dream of going to college, military or trade school after graduation, and some who just aren't sure.
Throughout my instruction, I attempt to provide as many real-world examples so every student can make choices for themselves. With help from donations like this, I hope to build lasting and appropriate impressions that will provide every student a fair and equal platform in which to gauge their own future.
Many of my students come from other countries, speak multiple languages (English being second), and are still adjusting to the expectations of almost being an adult with adult responsibilities, and still being a teenager. I help with this transition by providing a comfortable environment within my classroom while challenging them each day to take responsibility for their own education.
My Project
Technology helps bridge that gap, and I want what every parent and teacher wants for their students, success. With this technology, every student will be able to continue building character through academic instruction and skill-building applications, as well as open the door to endless possibilities.
I use a variety of online sites to challenge, and in many cases, help strengthen student success. These sites may assist with proper use of essay citations, or may increase their academic vocabulary to help prepare them for the SAT or ACT.
If you can academically stimulate and challenge a teenager each day, it's a good day!
Teens need to be challenged. They need to feel accomplished, and they need to feel responsible and in control. What better way to do this than to literally put that in their hands.
