Success for all Students with Storyworks

Help me give my students an opportunity to read stories that are engaging and fun. Storyworks magazines will provide students with both fiction and nonfiction pieces of writing.

My Students

My students are a curious group of 5th graders with many different interests and talents. I see future artists, mimes, scientists, military personnel, historians and teachers when I look at these students. There is a large variety of personalities and interests. Unfortunately, low income status also effects many of these students and they have to persevere through hardships.

Approximately 15% of these students have special needs when it comes to reading.

Several others find reading to be quite challenging. All of these students would benefit from high interest reading materials along with strong instruction. That's where Storyworks comes in to play. This is where I ask for your help.

My Project

Having a subscription to Storyworks for each student will not only be helpful in engaging the students, it will be monumental in conquering the learning standards set up by the state. Students will feel a sense of pride as they find success in reading. As a teacher, I will feel that I am providing the students with quality resources to help prepare them for their future.

Students with reading challenges will be able to feel a sense of accomplishment as there are leveled worksheets and passages that are included in the subscription teacher resources.

Students will build confidence as they read passages that they are able to understand while building vocabulary and fluency skills.

Project based learning can develop from the passages that are included in Storyworks. What student doesn't like projects? They love to be creative and move about within the classroom. Storyworks will also provide opportunities for this to happen.
