Succeeding in Reading with WIST

Help me give my students a nationally-normed assessment of reading and spelling. By using data from the WIST to plan instruction, I will be able to tailor literacy lessons to students' specific reading needs.

My Project

The WIST is a nationally standardized literacy assessment specifically designed for students having difficulty with reading and/or spelling. It is norm-referenced and measures word identification, spelling, and sound-symbol knowledge. Administering this test will give me detailed information about each student's reading abilities. I will then be able to use this information to plan targeted reading intervention lessons to meet students' specific literacy needs. Therefore, by administering the WIST and using the data to plan reading intervention lessons, students will receive the most effective reading instruction to help close the gap between their current reading performance and grade-level expectations.

Moreover, since the WIST is nationally-normed, it will provide me with valuable data that can be easily communicated with parents, classroom teachers, and administrators.

Furthermore, administering this test at both the beginning and end of the school year will allow me to quantify my student's reading growth.
