My Students
My students are creative, talented, curious and intelligent. I teach 4th grade gifted and talented at a Title 1 school in Brooklyn. These students work very hard to complete the many assignments they are given each day. They have a strong desire to work on creative projects when they complete their core assignments.
The students are independent and motivated.
They are interested in building, inventing and working with their hands as well as their minds. The kids will be very grateful if this project is funded and hopefully one day they will pay it forward.
My Project
These creative materials will be available to my students on a daily basis. STEAM baskets challenge students with creative tasks. For example, they may be asked to build bridges or modes of transportation. The LEGO Classic Large Creative Brick Box and IMDEN Block Building Set will provide great materials for these challenges. The complete set of STEM Learning Labs for grades 4-5 offers students more specific tasks such as alarming their pencil cases.
My fourth grade gifted and talented students have been asking for intellectual, challenging, hands on projects!
My students are not only gifted in traditional academic areas. They love inventing and they think outside the box. I am hopeful these materials will provide my classroom with the enrichment these kids desire and deserve.
