it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At our High School, I serve a diverse group of low-income, marginalized youth eager to explore their creativity and potential in both the arts and STEM. My goal is to introduce sublimation printing, a fusion of art and STEM, by acquiring sublimation materials, tumblers, sublimation paper, and a tumbler press.
This project, fueled by your kindness, unites art and science to empower our marginalized students with the transformative magic of sublimation, igniting their passion for creative expression and STEM exploration.
I will utilize these materials to create vibrant artworks. Students will design digital art, transfer it onto sublimation paper, and press it onto mugs using the tumbler press. This process not only allows creative expression but also teaches the scientific principles behind sublimation.
Moreover, sublimation offers a unique opportunity for STEM exploration. Students will delve into the science of sublimation, understanding how temperature and pressure affect the transfer of colors onto the mug's surface. Through hands-on experiments, they will analyze the sublimation process, gaining valuable insights into the fascinating world of material science. This interdisciplinary approach, combining art and STEM, will ignite their curiosity and develop critical thinking skills, ultimately preparing them for future academic and career success.
