This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school was established in 1928 and has been serving a small community for many generations. It is my 24th year teaching, and I had an awesome experience of teaching my former student's daughter in my class a few years ago. My current aide is also my former kindergarten student.
My school is a Title I school, where a lot of my students qualify for the reduced price or free lunch program.
Many students come from diverse cultural backgrounds. There are 16 different languages spoken at my school. Most are English Language Learners, speaking English as their second language.
It's exciting to teach students who are able to do so much on their own - collaborating, researching and working independently to be innovators!
My Project
Our students have been at home since March of 2020, doing almost all of their work on devices such as iPads and Chromebooks. I see many of them struggle to write neatly on their assignments on the Seesaw app. Seesaw has been one of the great platforms for students to continue their learning so they can annotate right on there, but many of them struggle when writing using their fingers.
The stylus pens will be very helpful to use on their assignments, I would love to be able to provide these tools to my students.
