My Students

I teach an amazing group of nineteen third graders in a Title One setting. My students come from very diverse backgrounds, including seven students who consider English as a second language.

In my classroom, we are all one big family.

I work to foster a positive classroom environment where all students feel supported and ready to learn.

Our district also focuses on developing "College, Career, and Citizen-Ready" students. I take this very serious in my classroom and are always looking for ways to develop my students as great learners, inspire them to work towards their personal goals, and encourage them to be thoughtful and caring individuals.

My Project

In our classroom, we use folders as a means to organize all our materials daily. Students are taught to be responsible for their own materials by keeping track of all their daily and weekly work in their folders.

Because the majority of my students come from very, low-income families, the supplies they are able to donate are often very low in quality.

The folders students came to school with, as well as the folders I bought for students who came without materials, are already too worn to be effective.

These new folders and materials will help keep students organized throughout the school year. Rather than having to replace folders every nine weeks, we will label and responsibly use these sturdy folders throughout the year.
