My Project
My students are amazing! They are eager to learn and participate in new activities, however, a lack of experience and materials will hold them back. They have a difficult time connecting with traditional materials and often do not have access to traditional games at home.
My students are 5 to 14 years old but are all functioning at the preschool level academically.
All of my students have limited social skills and significant language deficits in expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language skills. My students are often frustrated because they cannot communicate their needs and wants. Many times they struggle to keep up with the other students because they do not speak and cannot participate in the same ways. I work tremendously hard to expose them to as many experiences within my means
My students are diagnosed with intellectual disability and autism. They learn and respond positively to a curriculum that is visual, and kinesthetic and allows them to practice their skills repeatedly.
I am requesting sturdy boxes to replace the broken game boxes. My older students will be transporting these games in their new boxes to my younger students' classrooms to help them learn to play games and improve their social skills.
