Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are a diverse group of first graders in a Title One school. They are each unique with different learning styles and interests. Despite their differences, they come to school each day with open minds and open hearts and are ready to tackle the day.

Their passion for learning and the desire to do well is what makes them so phenomenal.

My students are thinkers. They persevere and support each other when learning new concepts. They build each other up. They feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes. These students have built relationships with not only me, but with each other. In our classroom, we are like a family. We laugh together, grow together and they encourage each other to be the best version of themselves that they can be.

My Project

My first grade students are inquisitive. They love to think and they love to ask questions. This school year we received a new science curriculum and it is full of critical thinking opportunities where they get to explore the world around them.

Imagine a world of possibility where there are no limits.

Getting these writing journals, pencils, and crayons will allow my students to take notes and draw conclusions as they step into the world that is outside of our four classroom walls. They are perfect for brainstorming. These journals are a creative way to combine science, writing, reading and art all in one which will help them recall what they are learning about. Getting these science journals will allow my students to become Scientists and take an active part in their learning.
