Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a growing charter school. More than one-third of the students come from low-income households. As of right now our team consists of 14 amazing, strong, smart, and caring young ladies. They are positively overcoming the challenges Covid 19 has put in their way and they still make it a point to spread cheer and joy throughout the school. This year is only our third year to offer cheerleading. Next year we have the potential to add higher grade levels and have a Junior Varsity and Varsity team. We then would have the possibility to have a Booster club! Without a booster club, our yearly budget has been very small and will not cover a much-needed mat.

My Project

With limited space available at our school we constantly change where the practice is held. We have practiced in the cafeteria, basketball court, meeting room, and even outside on the pavement and that is why I am asking for your help. We may be moved from room to room but having our own mats will keep them safe no matter where we go to practice.

Unfortunately, we do not have our own safety mats.

Not having our own mats have made it very difficult to practice tumbling, stunting, and technical trainings. The cheerleaders would be able to practice with confidence knowing they have extra cushions if they fall.

We planned to have a few fundraisers so that we may purchase these mats but Covid 19 has postponed those fundraisers.

We need your help so that the current and many more future cheerleaders have a lifelong memory, be the best they can be and continue to be positive role models in our school.
