Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In many urban communities, students are not supplied with the same tools and materials found in more affluent areas. My students are growing to be lifelong learners, they are in need of other supplemental resources for the challenging social studies content they are tackling this year.

My students are dedicated to their development as lifelong learners.

At our school, our students have learned that they have the power to "write the future" and they do so throughout all subject content areas. My students are beginning to learn how to participate in discussions about social studies and are breaking down the stereotypes and judgments that have kept them from succeeding in areas of study such as social studies. They commit themselves to their journals and learn to explore via inquiry processes. They are not just learning about what explorers have done and found, but are doing what explorers do. My own resources and personal, monetary donations to their social studies material is no longer sufficient. They are in need of tools that researchers use in order to develop and elaborate their own ideas and social studies explanations.

My Project

The various resources I have requested in this project are items my students are in need of the most. The multicultural book collection will allow my students to see and experience other cultures through text. The globe will provide students with a 3D model of our world, to explore the possibilities and properties of other countries. These items, as well as the other great resources I have requested, will bring inspiration and possibility for success to my deserving students. They have put in the work and have dedicated themselves to their own education. They are accountable individuals who are only lacking the tools to further develop their concept understanding of social studies.

Your generous donations to our project will influence the lives of my students.

They will believe that they are meant to learn and grow into more than what society's limitations have set before them. Your support will be a part of the movement towards having social studies be attainable by all. It will be part of a larger picture, where everybody (not just researchers and other professionals) can participate in social studies discussions. Thank you!
