My Students

My students are eager middle school students who love to learn and have their sights set on high school and beyond! My students come to school from across the city of Chicago. While a few students walk from the neighborhood, the majority endure long daily commutes on the bus, train, or in the car to attend school at STEM. Students come from neighborhoods throughout the city creating an environment rich with the diversity. The students' eagerness to attend the school is evident in their commitment to learning, innovating, and supporting each other.

My Project

I love spending my life teaching young people about all things related to Social Studies - civics, history, political science, economics, etc.! While I've been fortunate to teach this topic that I'm so passionate about for several years, there is always so much to learn! I would love to attend the National Council of the Social Studies annual conference to learn more about the latest engaging and effective teaching strategies. The conference offers an abundance of information about content and pedagogy that will ensure that teaching and learning in my class will be transformed! I am eager to bring back new ideas, especially those using technology to make the history come alive for my students. My dream is for my students to love learning as much as I do and this conference will help make that possible!
