My Project

Some of my special needs and 504 students often need privacy to think and process, so they can keep working. Other times, they just need independent time to themselves without sharing a space with others for mental health breaks, and having the study carrel unit in the classroom would allow them to do just that without having to request to leave the classroom to go to another location.

For some, getting up and leaving also draws attention to them; they don't want to and will stay home for a whole day, rather than coming to school, which affects their attendance, relationship-building with peers, and receiving instruction.

Having the study carrel allows them to know they can have their own space and still be a part of the class and/or school in the same room with their peers.
