Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help give us the supplies to create prints to illustrate aspects of my students' lives.

My school has a free and reduced lunch rate of 80% and 89% of our students are minorities.

They have not been given very many different visual art experiences; the schools in our district do not have the budget to buy different art supplies. They are very creative and when given the opportunity they create amazing artwork. Some of these students do not experience success in the core classrooms, therefore being successful in the artwork increases their self confidence.

My Project

My students need materials to create different types of prints for illustrations. This includes stretcher bars, an etching plate, press blankets and Wondercut Linoleum blocks. Students will be able to create prints related to their life and their experiences. They will be able to experience success and this will help them realize their self worth. My students will be able to learn how to make block print that relate to their lives. They will use this to create a story about themselves and their goals and their experiences in life.

If I can help my students to see that they have talent, this may inspire them to try harder in their other classes.

My students need to see their potential and help break the generational poverty so many of them have come from.
