I am teacher of 15 years at Goodrich Elementary In Milwaukee and teach a first and second grade classroom of 30 students. I service students whose educational needs greatly vary and the use of a document camera will improve the way I can model what I teach.
This will help students who are significantly below grade level.
Measurement is a basic skill that most of the students struggle with. With this document camera I am able to easily SHOW the entire class how to use a ruler and other means of measurement so that the entire class can see and then practice it independently. Without it, it makes it difficult for the students to see and understand the concept of measurement.
My Project
A document camera will benefit my students in many ways. I will be able to project information so visual learners will be able to see text, small items, and demonstrations from any location in the classroom. Also hands on learners can be a part of the lesson by setting the items under the camera for other students to see. The students will then be able to use this technology while presenting in front of their peers. I will also be able to save my own money that I spend on paper making less copies because I can project texts rather than making copies.
Having the document camera will help students be more engaged during lessons.
They will also be taught how to use the document camera which will improve their technology skills for the future and during current student presentations. The more engaged my students are the more progress they will make. With this test scores will go up and students will have had better modeling by me, as their teacher.
