Students Who Can Think Achieve (in Life) - Higher Level Thinking Skills Workshop
I need help covering the registration fee so I can attend a powerful Kagan professional development opportunity to help develop my students' higher-level thinking skills that can help them as students and throughout their lives.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Ekins's classroom raised $297
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
For nine years, I have worked in the same Title I school. That means that my students come from low socio-economic households. Also, 65% of my students speak a language other than English at home.
I adore learning with fourth graders.
Despite their challenges, my students come to school each day eager to learn and take charge of their education. I believe in empowering my students and giving them thrilling and motivating educational experiences that simultaneously improve their math, writing, reading, science and social skills.
My Project
I have attended three Spencer Kagan Professional development workshops in the past, and they have utterly changed my teaching practices in all the right ways! This project will help cover the registration fees for a Kagan Professional Development workshop on Higher Level Thinking Skills.
Imagine if you had the opportunity to talk and have fun to learn in school...that's the beauty of Kagan workshops.
Their professional development teaches teachers how to systematically have students conversing, practicing English, learning communication skills, and learning content simultaneously. It's all brain researched and it's fun!
I have learned how to help kids build communication and collaboration skills that will serve them well throughout adulthood. Specifically, this workshop will help me help my students develop the fifteen most fundamental thinking skills. I'll learn to embed the thinking, creative, and collaborative skills into how I teach, without changing programs I currently use, so every lesson becomes a deep-thinking skills lesson.
This training is a one day event in Salt Lake City where I, as a teacher, get to learn new teaching structures about the fifteen thinking skills while participating in them! Kagan workshops are interactive and informative. They begin at 8 am and go until 4 pm, the time flies, and the learning sticks.
