Every day the SmartBoard and laptop are essential tools for my students. In Reading we gain knowledge in what we are reading, whether it be poetry, fiction or nonfiction. When writing compositions and essays we review and learn strategies to become proficient in writing skills.
My kids are eager learners.
They strive each and everyday to gain knowledge and become proficient in learning what is presented. Our school is in a high poverty area with many at-risk students. Funding is crucial with funding resources at an all time low. The school uses technology to enhance the learning of the students. My kids love to help and teach each other. Cooperative learning techniques are used on a daily basis. Kids teaching kids is the motto in our classroom. Its that "magic" language they use that promotes a successful student.
My Project
My kids would use the digital camera to help other students become successful throughout their school career. Just imagine a student displaying their writing and having a group discussion on the strengths and needs of the writing selection. Students becoming excited about giving strategies to improve skills. Resources that are a hard copy (books, magazines, paper documents) can be easily displayed for discussion.

I want the students to be excited about becoming proficient in all aspects of the learning process both as a student and a citizen. The document camera will enhance the skills of both the written and spoken language as well as the ever changing technology the students will encounter throughout their careers.
