Many students struggle with reading and up to 20% of them may fit the profile of dyslexia. Often, students do not receive the interventions needed to help catch them up because they do not qualify for special education services. Our school district is trying to help that by integrating dyslexia therapy services taught by Certified Academic Language Practitioners and Therapists within the school day. The Take Flight program is structured, multisensory, systematic, and cumulative. It requires a collaboration between home and school to practice the skills learned during the school day. These materials will allow students to stay organized when they take home their Take Flight homework, which will further students' ability to learn and grow in reading and writing.
