Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With summer rapidly approaching, the school library will close for the season. Even the librarian gets the summer off. Still, I want students to have access to age-appropriate stories and interesting books to read. Our school was fortunate to receive a Little Free Library, which allows students to take or a leave a book. They can share books they think their peers will love and take stories they want to read home with them. It's the next best thing to a library, and it's always open because it's outdoors!

My dedicated crew of students and my teacher friends have promised to help me keep the shelf stocked in the summer, even as we're all on vacation; all we need is a steady supply of great stories for middle grade students.

I have selected books from the Lone Star Reading List for middle grade students, which indicates that they are award winning as determined by the Texas Library Association, so my kids and my colleagues can help stock the shelf this summer! Please keep the stories coming even when school is out.
