My students need a computer to be able to use with the class printer for all their printing needs. They also need ink for the class printer and the headphones for their personalized class computer assignments.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school mostly consist of ELL students and is in a low social economic area. Many students lack technology at home due to high cost of these tools and internet services. They also do not have access to printers. As fourth graders, they are expected to conduct research and find information for projects and home learning assignments. As a result of these limitations at home, more technology resources are needed in our classroom. In addition, school provides them with some resources, but does not provide any ink for our printers, extra tools for individual student use and computer accessories. These resources are a great way to show academic growth and facilitate instructional delivery.
My Project
These class resources such as a computer, ink, and headphones will allow students to research on the computer and print materials needed to complete assignments. Students will have access to technology targeted for them to grow academically with the use of headphones. Their opportunities soar while in school, despite the lack of this in their homes. The students show eagerness to learn through the use of technology and accessories readily available to them during their school day. These tools allow them exposure in researching and having access to materials in class whenever needed. Their learning gains spike when they have all the materials they are not exposed to at home.
