Help me give my students more technology to expand their learning in the classroom and be able to take orders on their tablets for Cafe coffee shop they operate.
My students are a group of self contained high school Autistic kids. We have many different levels of academic, social and physically functioning students. While we are a diverse group, we all come together in a loving and fun environment that teaches way beyond the academic part of school. WE learn vocational skills, independence, social skills, and job readiness skills. My students are a group of inquisitive and determined young people who love learning. My kids have so many various talents. They are a group of lively, caring, considerate, and eager kids who love to learn and try new things.
Giving back, pushing forward, and breaking boundaries, describes things my Autistic students do daily.
They run and manage a real coffee shop within our school and build and donate bikes to others as part of our Vocational Training Lab. They are always excited to showcase their talents and show others how determined they are! They do not let their Autism define them or hold them back from moving forward in all they try!
My Project
My students learn best by being able to "do". They learn well with interactive lessons. The tablets would allow them to use apps as groups and individuality to expand their learning of hard to teach lessons. They would also be using the tablets to take orders for the coffee shop they operate, learn new recipes, and send out menus to staff and customers.
Fire tablets will help set our ordering on fire.
Students can take orders faster, use pictures for emphasis, allow non readers to take orders using pictures, develop their own recipes to share with staff via email and Google accounts. They will also help them in the classroom to learn money skills and other interactive lessons that are difficult to learn and teach our kids with traditional classroom worksheets and lectures.
