My Project
I teach mostly native Hawaiian students from low-income areas. Most of my students have low reading skills. I want to show my students they can be profound thinkers and writers. I am requesting books which will allow my students to read about people like themselves from authors who look and come from similar places.
My students need and deserve to see their own people represented in the books they read.
This will give many of them a new look at self-identity.
Please help my students grow into the leaders our community needs by assisting in their reading and self-identities.
