My students need more technology in the classroom. The use of Kindle Fires in my classroom will help my students become tech savvy, as well as giving them practice with their phonic skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a class of 20, 5 and 6 year-old boys and girls.
My babies come to me with various ability levels that range from reading on a second grade level to students who have no or very limited English.
They are each very special and very loved in my classroom.
At least 1/4 of my students are bilingual with Spanish being the primary language spoken in the home. Most of my students come from lower to lower middle class families and single parent homes.
My Project
With a reading push in my state to use and provide more phonic and phonemic awareness the kindle fire will allow me the ability to provide more extensive phonic skill practice through the use of technology. This project will allow my students to Rise and better their phonemic awareness and practice the skills needed to rise. Phonic skills and Phonemic awareness are skills that need to be taught to create lifelong readers. The kindle fire and its apps will enable my students to practice the skills needed for reading. In my experience technology tends to break a language barrier and with 1/4 of my students Spanish speaking the use of the Kindle Fires in my classroom will better their ability to practice and learn their phonics skills.
