Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In my role as the Library Media Specialist I not only have the pleasure of teaching every single student in the school, but I also help coordinate with all teachers in the building, administration and PTA to plan supplemental and enriching events and activities for students.

This project is a conglomeration of learning tools, manipulatives, props and goodies that students will be using throughout the day in Special Area classes, during recess and in Math and Literacy stations in their classrooms to help them develop academically and socially.

The STEM toys and games are great for students at recess to not only have fun, but engage in conversations with peers that foster communication skills and relationship building. Personal white boards, dry erase markers and erasers allow all students to engage in Math and ELA lessons simultaneously, instead of only one person coming up to the board. Sand and playdough, while fun toys, add an exciting new way to form letters, numbers and words, as do the class set of sketch boards. Drawing paper and glue sticks are essential for elementary art projects. Seasonal decor and props that will add some extra special effects to our Spring Concert and Graduation/Moving Up ceremonies later in the year. Rounding out the project are lots of fun and trendy goodies for our school store where students purchase items with the Falcon Bucks they earn for positive behavior like showing respect and integrity, making safe choices and striving for excellence.
