My students need to experience opportunities in the area of STEM, such as coding and robotics. These resources will create a culture for learning that supports STEM and increases student engagement.
Diversity is ever present in my classroom of students. Our school is represented by over 40% free and reduced-price lunch. Our school is an "A" school and achieves this success despite any adversity. The students in my class need every opportunity to continue to compete in the 21st classroom required for today's learners.
What makes my classroom special?
Your children, my children, our children. Ultimately, our future. My students will one day have jobs that haven't even been invented, yet.
My Project
I want to increase my students interest in STEM. What better way, but to create a culture for learning where science, technology, engineering and math are present through hands-on resources that feel like development play for young learners.
The use of coding and robotics is of high interest in classrooms today.
I am requesting a programmable mouse activity set to be used in pairs or small groups. In order to teach my students about coding and robotics I need to use materials that show how easy it can be. Students will learn how to program a robotic mouse to maneuver through a maze, created by students.
I am also requesting additional resources, such as blocks that interlock called Locktagons. These additional resources will be used during daily Math Stations. Frequently exposing students to pre-engineering opportunities will further enrich the use of STEM in my classroom.
By supporting my classroom you will bring this terrific opportunity to my students and thus support inventors and scientists of the future. In order for my students to reach their potential, I must first immerse them in resources that are needed to stimulate learning and spark new ideas.
