My students are fiercely independent. They come from a proud history of independent and hardworking people. My students are amazing young people who deal with so many adult problems every day but still show up to class ready to learn. They have a keen understanding that education is their path to a better life.
My students are feisty learners that want to know their teachers care about them and have high expectations for them.
They often get a bad rap in the school district, so they are hyper sensitive to adults that set low expectations for them. My students are the sort of students that when they ask why, you better have the answer! They are inquisitive, mindful and charitable students that would do anything for you once they know you care.
My Project
A room without desks with flexible seating gives students opportunities to sit where they will be most engaged while giving me an open room to create activities that get the most out of the class. The open room makes it easy for movement to be part of the lesson, which studies show helps students be more attentive and engaged. However, my class is a foreign language class, and there are times when students must write and take notes. These high top tables will help keep the classroom open while giving students an opportunity to stand and write.
Since removing desks from my classroom, I have seen a noticeable improvement in the way students engage the subject and the interactions I'm able to have with them.
The high top tables I've selected will give students the opportunity to stand and move while writing. These tables will also be a flexible seating option for projects, collaboration and other work. Moreover, they will help keep the class open because they can be easily moved to the spot they'll do the most good.
By donating to my project, you will ensure that students have the best possible classroom arrangement to meet their learning needs.
