Students Need To Explore Math With A Growth Mindset!

Help me give my students an open canvas on a large white board using expo markers in different colors to differentiate their strategies. This allows them to be explorers while learning in a safe environment.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. J's classroom raised $394

My Project

Our ELL population is very diverse. Many of our students struggle with the language of math. Our school takes pride in making sure that our students get the best support that they need to succeed in school. Patience, kindness and compassion are key to their success.

Students need to be explorers!

I want them to get out of their chairs during our exploration phase of our math content. Using the large white board will show me what they are thinking and work through their trials and errors. Mistakes make our brains grow!

All of our students need to express themselves in a way that make sense to them. They need to be able to show their work by being able to express themselves using numbers, words and models to solve math problems. Many of today's math strategies use visual models. A giant white board will allow them to work through their problems and try different methods to find a solution.

It’s important to shape our classroom into a judgment-free zone so that all students can focus on learning instead of worrying about being accepted by their classmates. Collaborating with each other makes our classroom a community. Creating this culture of diversity, inclusion, and belonging in our classroom, I can set each and every one of my students up for success.
