Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach in a Title 1 school in Alphabet City. My students receive 100% free/reduced lunches. Due to our budget problems, we do not have enough textbooks and workbooks for each student. This is a problem because not only do students always have to share during class time but they can not bring their educational resources home to extend their study. We only have one copy machine for the entire school and we're limited to 2 copies a day. However, this is not enough. Each day I have to copy a text for Social Studies, Science, Math, and Reading in addition to all their homework assignments and extension activities. Due to this problem many of our students are missing out on the extra assistance at home they need as well as the exposure to their own individualized information and resources at school. The 2nd copy machine would allow our teachers to create a print-rich informant for our students and support their development by being able to send home more enrichment activities.
