My students are students with mild to severe disabilities who are still expected to understand all or part of the curriculum. They are energetic and love computers. Each one of them likes to get on the active board and participate in lessons. They sometimes argue over whose turn is next. They're affectionate and I receive multiple hugs everyday. They appreciate everything that is given to them and they work hard daily to get the most out of school. Our school lost technology in a flood and we're striving to get our students back on track. The students will be testing on Chromebooks this year, so it is my goal to allow them to practice using Chromebooks before they have to take the test.
My class has two non-verbal students who would be able to use the touchscreen Chromebooks for communication, learning (Math, Science, Social Studies), creating, and testing. This will open a door for them to carry their ability to communicate to the world around them. The other Chromebooks will assists the other students with all of the above as well as typing and research. The student's will be able to check out a Chromebook to use for research at home on their class projects. This will greatly help the student's who don't have access to any kind of technology at home. The student's will also be able to take practice test and complete assignments that will be immediately graded on programs such as Study Island and Google Classroom. We will be able to have interactive lessons in groups and participate in whole class learning. My class looks forward to creating ideas and comic books using Chromebooks.
