This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As my students enter their senior year, they will need to spend extra time outside of their classroom hours to meet the needs of the challenges they are facing. My students in particular, who are all recent immigrants to the country, our school had not only been teaching them everything from academic content areas to career preparation but we also believe that language learning is enhanced by experiences both in and out of the school building. Therefore, we have organized numerous learning opportunities for students outside of their classroom settings.
It is so important that students feel welcomed when they came to the after school sessions with teachers and counselors.
My students tend to stay after school to complete assignments since the school has the resources to help them. They are staying after school to research the colleges they want to attend. They are staying after school to complete their applications to colleges nationwide. Students need snacks after school because they lose focus and academic performance when they don’t have them. Snacks help students retain focus and learn more at school. Schools that provide snacks see improved academic performance. Additionally, some students just simply can't afford snacks.
My students will have access to the necessary tool with your support by donating to this project.
