My Students

What I love about my students is that they show up when they don't want to, they take risks with learning, they are people first and students once we've connected. They are kids with special needs who are also living in impoverished living conditions and taking care of their siblings during COVID so an adult in the home can work. They are kids who want to learn, belong, engage, socialize, and be recognized. The families of these students cannot afford internet or computers or one or the other.

My Project

These computers will be used for remote learning and are urgently needed. They will make a difference in the lives of our students because they will be able to participate in classes over zoom. They will also have the opportunity to meet with and socialize with peers during class. Socialization is very important for kids, especially during the pandemic when kids have no other options for peer contact other than the work they do in groups. Computers are scarce and expensive and our school does not have unlimited funds to purchase new computers and repair old ones.
