My Students
Our students come from varying backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. There are about 400 students in our school in grades Pre-K through grade 5. 77% of our students live at the poverty level. 42% of our students are English Language Learners. We have a 50% transiency rate.
It is imperative that we give our students unique experiences as they face many challenges.
We hope to instill in our students the love of reading by giving them access to multiple resources around literacy!
My Project
Some of our early readers at our school are limited to fiction books at their levels. I would like to request non-fiction books for the early readers at our school. I hope to instill the love of reading in our early readers and these books will do that.
Students will feel successful as a reader because these books contain interesting topics at their level.
Students will learn about topics that exist in our world.
We will store the Guided Reading Collections in grade kindergarten through grade 2 in our book room. Our school has a book room with fictional collections of books at these levels that all teachers can check out but we don't have non-fiction books at these levels. These non-fiction books that will be purchased will go in the book room and teachers will be able to access them at these levels to share with their students.
