Students Need a Chance to Relax, but Don't We All?
Help me give my students opportunities to decompress and re-regulate with healthy coping tools while staying inside the learning environment.

My Students
Our students come from all over the city of Boston, each with a unique story to tell. They are creative, funny, hardworking, and brutally honest. They have the same hopes and dreams that any of us had growing up, however they face additional obstacles that many of us never had to face.
Many are immigrants to the United States and for the majority of them English is not their first language.
According to the state of Massachusetts, 94% of them qualify as "high needs".
My Project
Adolescence is hard enough – surely we all remember these years as a mash of hormones, popularity (or lack thereof) and constantly trying to keep up with the latest fashion, gadgets, etc.
On top of these ordinary teenage challenges, many of my students struggle to learn while at the same time overcoming their disabilities, anxiety, depression, or past trauma.
New this year, my school is implementing a "cool down" space for students to be able to decompress, re-regulate, and get themselves back in a learning mindset. I recently bought some "thinking putty", which if you have children you'll know that they love. Since then students have been "checking it out" throughout the day and I can't keep up with the demand!
Please help support their efforts to decompress in a healthy way!
