Our scholars come from nearly every neighborhood of Boston. We serve 470 students grades 6-8, and as a "citywide" school, we welcome any and all students. UP Academy Boston has an extended school day (9 hours) and school year (we began August 20th), so our students work really hard. They are remarkably resilient, thoughtful, funny, and unique. I have the best job in the world. However, as anyone who has ever worked really hard knows, it is easy to get stressed out and forget to stop and "smell the roses". This project, our first-ever student news program ("What's UP?") is part of a larger effort to infuse levity and joy into a rigorous academic day.
