My students are intrigued by new ideas and creativity they are happiest when they are engaged and actively learning. I want my students to be exposed to a learning 21st century space, which provides my students to versatile in their educational experiences. Flexible seating allows my students expand their learning styles that gives them freedom to choose how and where they like to sit everyday, that makes learning fun!
I have thirty-two students who love to learn through inquiry and explore learning everyday.
Flexible seating gives my students the opportunity to work together, engage in rich conversations and collaborate in a comfortable space, this encourages them to develop as learners and problem solvers of the future.
Teaching in a Title I school, in an urban area, with over sixty-eight percent of the families being low-income, our school continues to be drastically underfunded with limited access to resources. The administration and teacher leadership do their best to find ways to support students with supplies and other resource materials, but it's not enough to support our students.
I have created a flexible seating environment in my classroom for 3 years now. I still work with the idea as to which seating options work best for my students. This classroom model is the best practice for students, so I want to continue to provide my students with a variety of seating options to optimize their learning potential. Offering students a choice really works for them, this project will help me continue the best type of learning environment.
This project will allow me continue to add new seating options for my students, which will provide them with learning options and choice where they work best in the classroom.
These new inflatable seat and portable desk seats will benefit my students in many ways. Research has shown that providing students with choice of seating options help students use up excess energy, improve metabolism, increase motivation and engagement, creating a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improving core strength and overall posture. My students are always excited about having the flexibility to choose a seat where they feel most comfortable to learn.
