This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend an inner-city elementary school in a low socioeconomic community. Many are from single-parent homes, live in multi-family homes, live in subsidized housing, qualify for free and reduced-price breakfast and lunch, and have other obstacles that they face on a daily basis.

Despite these obstacles, the one constant is that they all come to school ready and eager to learn.

They are also learning to be tolerant of others whether it is a peer, an adult, or some other outside factor.

My Project

Every day my students have the challenge of finding books at their reading level because our books are on a bookshelf and it is often not easy for students to find a book at their level due to lack of organization. The book boxes will help our class library stay organized and teach my students to be tolerant while finding their favorite book at their reading level with ease.

As the school year picks up momentum, my students need basic supplies and books to help them stay organized.

It is crucial for students to be organized and be able to find a good book with ease so they could spend more time reading and completing work during class and less time becoming frustrated because they cannot find an assignment or book at their level.
