Students Learn to Fly With Drones!

Help me give my students have hands-on experience with using a drone. The Protocol drones will give the students an opportunity to use one and see how it flies, maneuvers, and records video.

My Students

I have a drone club after school. Students in the club mostly come from middle income or low income families and would not normally have to opportunity to work with drones, but with this club, they do get the chance to get hands-on experience with them. Many of them have never used a drone which makes it fun for everyone. Both the girls and the boys are having fun learning how to fly the drones. We were flying the drones down the hallway after school and even some of the teachers wanted to join the club.

The students are learning, not only how to fly them, but to design, build, and program them as well.

One of the students is proficient in using drones and he has brought his passion to the after school drone club. He is not only knowledgeable, but also, enthusiastic and patient with the students and me.

The students are learning while having fun, and that is when they will achieve the most. I, on the other hand, have crashed each time I have tried to fly, but I am getting better thanks to my students helping me learn.

My Project

The drones will be used by the students in the after school drone club. The club was started by a student who has a passion for drones and is willing to teach the students, and the teacher.

Students will learn, not only to fly the drones, but see how they work, and eventually design and build their own.

By having a couple of drones, they will have hands-on experience in learning how they function, how to maneuver them, and be able to show off their skills with the obstacle course they are planning.

Eventually, the students will learn to design and build their own drone.
