I have an inquisitive group of 29 students! These students are curious, excited, and LOVE learning! When we can tie hands-on investigations into our learning . . . the energy in the class simmers with excitement! This DonorsChoose project brings together the opportunity for students to ignite their creative juices and engage in problem solving and critical thinking using science, literacy, and math. Whether we are innovating with art materials, learning about history, or bringing 2D paper and pencil ideas to a new 3D dimension, these project items will challenge my students to continue expanding their learning while developing 21st century skills. I am excited to present this project for our learning community.
My Project
My students are innovative, but don't always have the materials to demonstrate their creativity! They love working with a variety of art materials, designing, and producing work with paints and oil pastels; however, my students need to replenish their oil pastels to practice different art forms such as texture, shading, various hues, and line styles. Ensuring students have 21st century skills requires them to extend that learning with other technologies. These skills will be developed with the 3D printer and filament. My students are lucky to have 1:1 digital access with a program to build the 3D items, but do not have the 3D printer and filament to actually print their creative work. All of these materials listed in this project will add a new layer of learning to the curriculum. My students are excited to explore new opportunities with a focus on digital designing and printing.
My goal is for the students to develop 21st century employable skills with an entrepreneurial spirit that will inspire them to innovate and provide a positive social impact in their community.
This new 3D digital art medium supports student learning across the curriculum, providing new innovative opportunities to bring their creative ideas to reality. These project materials support student learning regardless of the curriculum topic: science, math, social studies, health, language. An infinite number of 3D projects can be designed and created with online programs. Students will learn how to take ideas from their brain to the computer for designing, and then to reality.
