This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are ELL learners and live in a low-income neighborhood. As several schools nationwide, we had to make the decision to learn remotely in the previous school year. However, it did not discourage students from learning, and instead, my students work harder than before. We are approaching a new school year in September with more changes to come. My students are looking forward to returning to school.
My Project
Our Dual Language Classroom consist of students learning two languages (English/Spanish). In school and at home they are using programs like Raz-Kids and Duolingo for additional language practices. Many of our students may be taking the NYSESLAT and ELA state exam this upcoming year.
These programs help students receive additional help but in order to focus and not disrupt other classmates learning , we are in need of headphones with microphones.
Each student will be receiving their own individual headphones . They will be able to take them home and concentrate without being distracted from outside noise.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
