My Students
We live in rural Maine with limited resources and a high level of poverty. The students in our school need to be supported to succeed academically and find how they best learn. I teach junior high level mathematics in a small school. My students enjoy the flexibility of learning in small group environments and with teachers who look after not only their academic needs, but their needs as a whole. The more we encourage our students to succeed academically, they more they will thrive throughout their lives.
My Project
Our classroom is blessed with a 3D printer. The students enjoy creating and we have used it in our curriculum for various projects. The struggle I'm finding is that my laptop in the only laptop with the software program downloaded. I would like to see the students work more with the printer software and the best way to do that is to have a 3D printer designated laptop. STEM projects, such as we do on the 3D printer are innovative and captivating.
Students need access to all the 3D printing components so they can create, tinker, fix, problem solve, print, and reprint as needed.
The more hands off I am the more hands on they can become.
