My Students
Building connections between old and new knowledge helps enlighten and enhance learning. Classroom discussions help broaden my students' knowledge base about the topics and ideas we're studying. Although my students attend a Title One school, they love working together, discussing new topics, as well as making connections between what they're learning and the real-world.
My students range in abilities and languages spoken--they are diverse learners who need a variety of teaching strategies to help them learn.
They love learning and thrive for knowledge.
My Project
Previously, in schools, teachers were the ones with all of the knowledge...the givers of the information where students were compliant learners. In this technological age, the tides are turning. Students are tech savvy and their creativity blooms when a device is in their hands.
Using their expertise in technology and knowledge of the curriculum, the students will use the 2 Apple iPad devices to create student tutorials as a tool for other students.
The tutorials are made by students for students. They are designed to target potential misconceptions students may have and use creative means to help teach the concept. Some tutorials may even introduce new concepts that help jump start a lesson before the students even enter the classroom!
Having a collection of tutorials for students to review at home will allow them more time to practice at their own pace, give them a chance to teach their family new strategies, and provide them with enough information to create their own tutorials!
