Students Getting What They Need to Overcome the Pandemic

Help me give my students headphones, math manipulatives and magnetic wands by providing them with different tools and methods.

My Students

My students come from very diverse backgrounds. I have students that are from refugee families with little to no English abilities. I have students who live in the homeless shelters and need to have good strong support from our class.

In the past two years, my students have missed out on in-person education due to at home learning, illness, or being exposed to illness.

My Project

The tools that they students are going to get are to help them overcome education that was missed during the last 18 months when they had to learn from home. My students come from a very diverse area, with backgrounds that are just diverse. One thing that they have in common is that they come from a low income community that do not have much to work with.

The tools that the students are going to receive, will allow them to learn better in whole group, small groups, and teacher groups.

The students will benefit from the tools requested in developing reading, math, and other academic skills through new strategies that the teacher have learned in the past year as well as develop new tools that they may have missed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using technology will allow the students to develop reading skills in a quite independent method, small tools for math will allow the students to work together in small groups, and the use of magnetic wands will allow the students to connect the sounds of words to whole words.

The tools that are desired are headphones that will enable students to read along with stories and interact with the programs that they are using. The magnetic chips with the wands allow the teacher and the students to connect parts of words to the sounds and to whole words. The math tools will allow students to learn how to aadd and subtract using ten frames.

The ultimate goal is to prepare the first graders for success in 2nd grade and beyond.
