My Students

My students are caring, considerate, and they always say, good morning, have a good day. Sometimes they can have hard days and need some serenity. My students need a section where they can have a sensory break or self-reflect on what they’re feeling. I encourage my students to express themselves, to never feel they cannot say anything in my classroom. I know my students feel my classroom is a safe space where they can just be themselves outside of judgment. It can be hard to be a student who has special needs and sometimes you just need to release the bad mood of the day.

My Project

These materials will create a safe space as well as a sensory break after a long day. I want to give them the ability before going home to spend time in the serenity section of the classroom. If they’re having a good day it can be just a moment to calm down; if it’s a really bad day, they can use one of the materials which is a personal hug ball. I want them to feel they’re in a safe space where they can feel calm enough to learn and know that their emotions and feelings matter.

My students, as well as many other students, are dealing with a really tough time right now.

I want to create a space within the classroom to be stress-free no worries.

My students also Stem meaning they get this really big burst of energy that is hard to control. And creating a space where they can become calm is important.
