Help me give my students a chance to continue to save the world by learning to compost their kitchen waste with a rotating compost bin.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A new compost bin will give my students a life-changing hands-on experience of how everyone can help save the planet by recycling their food waste. We have one bin up and running and it is full of student "donations". Now it's time to expand this project so we can get more students involved.
Composting food and garden waste will help remove methane from landfills, reduce the deadly gasses that are causing global warming, and show my students how they can have a direct impact on their environment.
Composting makes nutrient-rich compost for our garden while supporting the soil. Compost replaces chemical fertilizers, minimizing the need to spread chemical products on the ground and plants, and will be used to beautify our school.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
