Students and Technology in the Math Classroom

My students need a graphics writing tablet to fully employ technology in our math classroom.

My Students

Help our students make technology a full partner in their math learning experience. Our students need to see math as engaging and looking to the future. The writing tablet will update the technology we have making it more user friendly for all the students.

We are in an inner city school with a full cross section of socioeconomic backgrounds.

Some of the students do not have computers in their homes. Our students range from the struggling math student to the highly gifted. The students are hard working, good hearted, and truly want to have a future of opportunity. They are interested and try. I believe they truly want to do the right thing. They have many family issues at home, mostly economic, or parents without higher education. Their parents want for their children what they don't have, they just need help in how to bring their children to that better place. In other words they have the desire but not the educational level to support their child.

My Project

Technology in the math classroom can bring in the students and engage them. Students now thrive in a technology rich environment. One where they can apply the math, see where its used, where they can see its purpose in their life. The goal is to put technology into the hands of the students. Have them use the technology to access the math curriculum. Engage and inspire them to use the tools that are forever a part of their life.

I have a Smart board, it is hard to use in math class because it is difficult to write on.

The students enjoy using all technology but the technology we have needs to be improved so it enhances student learning and involvement. The tablet will move another step forward towards providing every student s a hands-on experience with the future in computers and technology. I want the students to create math work using the technology.
