This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is a school with deep community roots. The students here are generational Wolverines and we are honored to be a part of this family.
However, the backlash of COVID, grief, mental health and the likes have left our students hurting.
The space we are hoping to fund will give our school the opportunity to hold support groups, allowing students a safe space to receive support. The couch that is on our wish list will be used to give students a comfortable space where they can sit and allow them the opportunity to share their life stories in comfort. The wall décor will be used to help make our support space more comfortable and inviting.
We also hope to purchase supplies for a clothing closet and resource room for students in need, which would include (but not limited too) clothes, household items, food, and hygiene products.
Unfortunately, due to COVID relief funds being exasperated, a lot of our students are not receiving free lunch so the snacks will go to help kids who may need snacks during the day. The wardrobe closet will be used to organize any donations that we receive to help our homeless youth. The goal of our space is to help students in any way, shape, or form and we hope that we are able to achieve this goal.
