This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Thank you for taking the time to read my request and help others. I teach 7th grade students who have moved to the United States and have been here less than three years. Some students have supplies every day, but some ask for a pencil every day. When we create projects about the literature we are studying, many do not have markers. My school provides initial supplies, but it is difficult for these to be a definitive source for teachers. I don’t know all the background circumstances for my students, but I do know how much they appreciate learning a second language in my class. Positivity and confidence are what I want for all young students as they navigate through the culture of a new country. Providing supplies (pencils, disinfecting wipes, facial tissues, markers, soccer balls), as well as teaching responsibility for their supplies, is part of their growth as individuals. It takes a community! Again, thank you for considering my request to make my class a better place.
