My students need 2 Apple iPad Minis to have specific applications to improve their English Language not available on the other devices. Two iPads will improve the students language and make them more confident in school!
What a wonderful person you are for reading this! I am a first year teacher, and quickly learning how fast your paycheck goes right back into my students. (Especially, when you see the love these students need every day.) The school year has only just begun and I already see the passion my students have for learning. My students come from a unique background. They are right around the corner from the “Happiest Place on Earth,” but they live in a very low income, high poverty area which everyday going home to is not that happiest. When my students come to school they are excited because they are given the supplies they need and opportunities that at home they may not have. They also look forward to school, because for many, it might be the only time they get to eat during the day. Many of these children are performing below grade level and need to make learning gains that will put them back to the grade level they should be performing at. Our class project is to help with just that.
My Project
We are a blended school, which means we include digital devices during the day along with paper and pencil. For many of our students this is the first time they are using technology. We are in need of 2 iPad Minis, a classroom set of computer mice and stylus pens. This will ease my students into being able to control what they need to do with each assignment more efficiently. Each student will be able to learn the technology faster and more efficiently.
Having two iPad Minis in our classroom will help my English Language Learners.
Half of my students are learning English now. There are applications available that the students will be able to use in small groups and become more fluent with English when I cannot work one on one with them. Although these students have an economic disadvantage these children show more passion and love for learning. Language barriers and location do not get in my students ways; every single day they look to overcome anything that comes their way. They are some of the bravest and most passionate people I have had the pleasure of meeting, and it's only week three back into school!
